Today was one of those beautiful golden days you sometimes get in September and October. I went for a walk in Greenwich Park and sat on a bench for half an hour reading. There were lots of people around, sitting on the grass or pushing babies along while listening to the parakeets shrieking. While I was reading a squirrel stopped right in front of me and began nibbling on a beechnut. Its jaw was going incredibly fast and when some people came by it paid no attention to them. I watched the ducks for a while in the pond and then I walked into Greenwich past the Maritime museum where I went to the Oxfam shop and then I came home.
I am reading Tender is the Night and I can confirm that I dislike Fitzgerald just as much as I did when I read him as a older teenager. There are some disadvantages of being in a book club.
