OK, I swear this will be the last post about my cold. I assume I now have only 2 or 3 readers left so Interesting have been my blog posts over the past few days.
I didn't go back to work today but I did "work" at home. What this meant in reality was that I replied to a few emails and thought about a problem for quite a long time while in the bath and while watching a lunchtime episode of The Bridge.
Last night I was very optimistic that I would sleep all through the night. It was not to be. The first time I woke up it was just after one. The second time was around 4. I try not to turn on the light in the middle of the night in the hope that this will trick my body into believing it is still asleep. My mother used to do this wandering about in the pitch dark with no glasses on or hearing aid in. It drove me crazy.
It was already beginning to get light the second time I woke up. My throat is still very sore and I reached for the anaesthetic throat spray.
Here is my top tip. Throat spray is really effective in easing a sore throat for up to 10 minutes or so. Long enough to let you get back to sleep. You need to turn the nozzle 180 degrees and then pump the spray into the back of your mouth. Try not to gag. It is much less effective if you spray it into your eye as I did last night. Your throat will still be sore and your eye will be even sorer. I rushed into the bathroom and threw some water around the eye area. The next time I woke up I thought I'd gone blind in one eye. I hadn't but my eyelid was stuck and I had to prise it open. My eye has been sore all day.
