During my week off I decided to go to the cinema one afternoon.
I don't know how many cinemas there are in London - hundreds I guess - but there seemed to be nothing on during that particular afternoon that I hadn't already seen or didn't want to see. That's how I ended up going to see Zero Dark Thirty.
It was compelling and, as everyone says, the last half hour was unbelievably tense even though you knew what was going to happen but really I felt a bit dirty when I came out of the cinema.
Interesting, isn't it? Jessica Chastain easily put in an oscar performance. I found the first 30 minutes gruelling and thought "I hate this and am never going to be able to watch this" and I found the last 30 minutes compelling. I thought the film did a good job of describing the process as detailed work, I liked the relationship between the two women, I liked that there was no love sub-plots, I liked the interaction between her and the military at the end (got to love Joel Edgerton, it's unAustralian not to) and I loved the final scene where she is just quietly exhausted and relieved. But the torture. Ambivalence or what?

Dirty? You're watching the wrong movies. I've very much been neglecting my tumblr blog of boring photos but I recently had to take a few snaps of some wonderful films that'll have you running for a shower.

I've had to scrub myself!
I did think the film was technically brilliant and the performances were excellent but I felt manipulated by it.
