If there was a day to be snuggled up in bed it was today. Unfortunately I decided last night that I really did need to go back to work.
I always think if you have been off sick it is a good idea to return when you still have some symptoms so no-one can accuse you of malingering. I turned up this morning still sniffing and sneezing, sporting a large cold sore and leaving a confetti of used hankies behind me. Surprisingly no-one wanted to sit next to me at the first meeting of the day.
It wasn't too bad once I got over that feeling of panic you get as you try to read 84 emails simultaneously while a queue of people waits to see you.
I left slightly earlier than usual but did some work when I got home,
It is very, very cold tonight. According to accuweather it feels like -4C out there and who am I to argue. When I was at university in Scotland I remember it always snowing at this time of year. In those ancient days I stayed in flats that had meters for the gas which needed endless feeding with 50 pence pieces. We would huddle round the gas fire discussing feminism and whether any of us had ever actually tasted an avocado pear while keeping a sharp eye out for whose turn it was to put the next 50p in the slot. I remember the light was always dim and during the winter you could never see out the windows because either it was dark or they were completely iced up on the inside.
Tonight I'm huddled under a blanket drinking tea and thinking about having a very, very early night.

Nice quilt. Glad you're feeling a little better.
